Laura Paton

Hello ~

I'm your instructor for this course. With a career that spans over 30 years...yes 30! - I have seen a huge evolution of the business analysis profession. I have worked across many different industries and contributed to projects of various sizes and complexities. It is the longevity in the space and variety of situations I have worked through that allows me the opportunity to bring an array of real-life project experiences into the classroom.

An Industry Thought Leader...

My most unique experience has been leading the development efforts of some of the top business analysis standards in use across the world today!

I have served in these roles:

* Chair/author for The PMI Guide to Business Analysis

* Chair/author for Business Analysis for Practitioners: A Practice Guide

* Chair/author for A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK Guide) v3

* Project manager, BABOK(R) Guide v2

It’s time for organizations and individuals to further develop their understanding about the value that business analysis provides. Lacking a thorough understanding about the importance and need for a solid business analysis process sets teams up for failure.

"The BA Fundamentals course with Laura Paton provided me a solid foundation of base knowledge about business analysis. It solidified my understanding about the purpose of the profession and the role of a business analyst. This course served as an introduction as well as a stepping stone for me to later obtain my certification in business analysis from PMI."

- Sonia Bellafiore, PMP, PMI-PBA

"From start to end, this was a great experience. Laura was clear, nicely-paced, and explained the business analysis knowledge areas in an easy to understand way . I highly recommend this class, its great value."

- J. Hall

"The content was valuable and the Q&A session with other participants was beneficial. Real world application (and the outcome) in my opinion had the greatest value."

- Tracy Toole

"I highly recommend BA Academy's "Fundamentals of Business Analysis" course for students and professionals who desire a solid foundation in business analysis. Laura's reputation as a practitioner, researcher, and teacher in the field of business analysis was underscored in every session. Ms. Paton provided me with a lot of valuable take-aways that I have already integrated into my BA toolkit.
